The ÌÇÐÄtv¹Ù·½ÍøÒ³ Foundation Studies (TCFS) program is the perfect pathway to studying at Australia's highest ranked university, the University of Melbourne.

How to apply

Applying to study at ÌÇÐÄtv¹Ù·½ÍøÒ³ is simple – just make sure you submit your application no later than five weeks from the study commencement date.

There are two ways you can apply.

Option 1: Use a registered overseas representative in your home country

You can reach out to a registered overseas representative in your home country, who can help you apply for a position at ÌÇÐÄtv¹Ù·½ÍøÒ³. They will assist you with the application process, and can also help organise accommodation and student visas for you.

Option 2: Apply to ÌÇÐÄtv¹Ù·½ÍøÒ³ directly using our online form

Students under 18 years old

Students who will be under 18 years of age during their studies in Australia must provide evidence to the Department of Home Affairs that they have appropriate accommodation and welfare arrangements in place when they apply for their visa.

There are two options:

Option 1: The student's family nominates an eligible family member to take responsibility for the student

Option 2: Request that Trinity issues a Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW)

The student’s parents/legal guardian can request that ÌÇÐÄtv¹Ù·½ÍøÒ³ provides a Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW). The CAAW letter will nominate the dates that ÌÇÐÄtv¹Ù·½ÍøÒ³ will take responsibility for you. Note that students will not be able to arrive in Australia prior to the commencement of the CAAW period.

Find accommodation in Melbourne

There are two main options when finding accommodation in Melbourne.

Option 1: Student apartments

Each student apartment has its own kitchen and bathroom. Apartments may be studio, one or two-bedroom, or three to six-bedroom multi-share, and most are allocated within walking distance, or a short tram ride, to ÌÇÐÄtv¹Ù·½ÍøÒ³. Some student apartment costs cover electricity, gas and internet access. Students are required to commit to a six to 12-month lease agreement.

Option 2: Private apartments and houses for students over 18 years

Private apartments allow students greater independence while studying at ÌÇÐÄtv¹Ù·½ÍøÒ³. Apartments are usually furnished, and students should allow some time before the commencement of their course to find a suitable option.

Arrive in Melbourne

Melbourne International and Domestic Airport is located approximately 20km northwest of Melbourne.

You have two options for arranging your arrival in Melbourne:

Option 1: Arrange your own transport to your accommodation

Taxis, coaches and hire car services are available from the airport to the city.

Option 2: Book airport reception and transport to your accommodation

This service is available from Melbourne Tullamarine airport only and must be booked in advance. Students will be invoiced for this service after arrival. Costs start from $150 per person. Excess baggage and cancellation fees apply.

It is mandatory for students under 18 years old to book transport to their approved accommodation.

Students arriving on a Saturday, Sunday or Monday must submit their airport reception and transfer request by 11am AEDT on the previous Friday.
